The Effingham Elks Lodge wants to say thank you to the area's emergency responders.
An event is set for Saturday at the Elks Lodge on South Banker. A meal of pulled pork barbecue sandwiches, potato salad and baked beans will be provided along with entertainment.
Two check presentations are planned, one to the Shop With a Cop programs with the Effingham City Police Department and the Effingham County Sheriff's Department, and the other to the area fire departments' MABAS program to assist that mutual aid activity.
Letters were sent out in September to all of the Effingham County fire departments as well as the Altamont, Effingham and Teutopolis police departments and the Effingham County Sheriff's Department. Effingham City-County Ambulance Service personnel were also invited.
Those who plan to attend are asked to contact Elks Government Relations Chairman Phil Kiser at 821-2925 or the Elks Lodge at 342-3636 if you haven't turned in a reservation for the event.
