Media Source Says "Firefly Grill" is State's Best

Firefly Grill was recently named the top rated restaurant in Illinois by Only In Your State. The list, “The 10 Most Highly Rated Restaurants in Illinois,” was based on rankings of the best restaurants in all of Illinois. Firefly Grill’s top spot helps draw visitors to Effingham.

“Firefly Grill is such a huge asset to our Effingham community. It has really put Effingham on the “culinary destination” map,” said Effingham Director of Tourism, Jodi Thoele. “Visitors plan their travels around a stop to Firefly Grill and we’re happy to be able to give foodies and culinary enthusiasts plenty to enjoy in Effingham,” said Thoele.

Since opening in 2006, Firefly Grill has received numerous awards and recognition, including being named a Best Dining Destination in the Riverfront Times twice, a #1 American Cuisine Restaurant by Open Table, Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence, 2nd best eco-friendly restaurant in the country by Bon Appetit, and a Quantum Leap and Lincoln Award from the Illinois Office of Tourism (IOT), in addition to being named a Delicious Destination in Illinois last year by IOT.

Regular recognition, along with great reviews because of a unique experience, has truly made Firefly Grill a destination in Effingham over the years. “Travelers have really started to seek out unique destinations and experiences in the past couple of years. Culinary tourism is on the rise and Firefly Grill has been a major factor in drawing those individuals to Effingham,” said Thoele. “A couple stopped by our Visitor Center yesterday to ask questions about Effingham. They made a special visit to Effingham specifically for Firefly Grill but were interested in other things to do on their two day trip here. It’s a great opportunity for us to be able to inform visitors about what else Effingham has to offer,” said Thoele.

With an eco-friendly design and a unique blend of global-inspired menu items, Firefly Grill is truly a unique dining experience. “We want to bring the tastes and flavors from different areas and cultures to our diners,” said Chef Niall Campbell. “Food is a journey, an experience and our passion.
