Williamson County native, Judge James "Randy" Moore emerged as the top vote-getter by slight margin during the recent Primary Election on March 15. Having garnered more than 100,000 votes district-wide, the Justice said he is looking forward to traveling the massive district to get out his message of "common-sense jurisprudence".

Judge Moore is currently serving as the assigned Justice to the 5th District Appellate Court in Mt. Vernon. The Judge announced his campaign on Oct. 13 for the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice James Wexstten.

Judge Moore's campaign is being chaired by State Sen. Dave Luechtefeld (R-Okawville).

Judge Moore was elected in 2008 and most recently retained in 2014 to the deep southern Illinois First Circuit Court based in Marion. The Judge was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the First Circuit bench in 2007, prior to his election in 2008. Most recently, Judge Moore was assigned to the Appellate bench by the Illinois Supreme Court on January 2, 2015 -- the position he currently holds.

Illinois' Fifth Judicial District encompasses the 37 counties in central and southern parts of the state. The "northern" line of the district is Madison, Montgomery, Christian, Shelby, Effingham, Jasper and Crawford. All points south of the "northern" line and the Mississippi, Wabash and Ohio Rivers make up the remaining boundary lines.
