Local Authors at Effingham Public Library

To celebrate National Library Week, Effingham Public Library will host six local authors on Monday, April 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of the library in the Adult Nonfiction area.  This local author event promotes a variety of writing styles and has both fiction and nonfiction work for sale.

Local authors included in this event are:  Debbie Bauer, Bobbie Jean Ashley, Rebecca Shamhart, Barbara Fout-Tackitt, Georgia Florey-Evans, and Jeremy Rinkel.

A Beecher City resident, Debbie Bauer will be promoting her book, Through a Dark Silence:  Loving and Living with Your Blind and Deaf Dog.  A professional dog trainer, Ms. Bauer realized that there was nothing written to support dog owners so she published the book in 2014.

Bobbie Jean Ashley from Newton will be promoting her newest fiction book, Charli’s Fall.  Ms. Ashley, a morning radio show host, has written the series, “Sabine and the Spirit Box.” 

A writer since high school, Effingham resident, Rebecca Shamhart will be promoting her first novel, a romance title, Protect and Serve.

A retired home health and hospice visiting nurse from Flora, Barbara Tackitt will be sharing her book, Movin’ On.  Movin’ On is a memoir that revisits interesting Ms. Tackitt’s experiences from her years caring for others.  All proceeds from her book support Ms. Tackitt’s neice who is raising two autistic sons.  The book was also illustrated by Flora’s artist Denise Plumlee-Tadlock.

A member of the American Christian Fiction Writers Beecher City resident, Georgia Florey-Evans will be promoting the first of her Christian Fiction Romance Suspense series, Hidden in Shadow.

Founder of Live Happy Life Coach, Effingham residents Jeremy Rinkel and his wife Renae have written:  exdepressed: 26 Words to Combat Depression. Depression strikes one of four people during their lifetimes.  Exdepressed promotes the power of positivity by empowering readers to look within themselves to become stronger. Through Jeremy and Renae’s story, one can see how depression can be overcome or managed.

Prices for books from these local authors range from $10.00 to 15.00.
