A Greenup man was sentenced to three years' probation and 180 days in jail this week after pleading guilty in Jasper County Circuit Court to a count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

21-year-old Devin Shupe was arrested last September after a then 15-year-old girl was found with him at a residence in Newton, 10 days after she had gone missing in Effingham County and was reported as a runaway.

While Shupe pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse count, charges of child pornography, obstruction of justice, and violating a stalking no-contact order stemming from the same incident were dismissed.

Shupe was fined $1,000 plus court costs and must pay other fines.
