Criminal Justice Summit Drew More Than 300 to Effingham

The 16th annual Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Summit was held in Effingham on February 24-25. Over 300 criminal justice executives federal, state, county, and local departments attended the two day conference.

The goal of the Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Summit has and continues to be, to bring quality training, in a conference type setting, to Criminal Justice stake holders from the southern region of Illinois.  The Summit helps bring new ideas and information and has allowed those engaged in the criminal justice system to come together to share those ideas and determine solutions to problems. Another goal is to seek nationally known speakers to present topics that are timely and impact the area in which we live, and to provide the most current information so agency executives can bring this back to their communities. The Summit also gives the attendees the opportunity to network with those who are dealing with similar problems and concerns.

Phil Chalmers is America’s leading authority on juvenile homicide and juvenile mass murder, and has interviewed over 200 teen killers and school shooters, along with numerous serial killers, mass murderers, and sexual predators.

Limey Nargelenas retired from the Illinois State Police in 1993 after serving in a variety of command and operational assignments. He presently serves as President of Capitol Consulting Inc. In this capacity, he coordinates the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police legislative agenda working closely with member police chiefs, elected officials and legislators, and other law enforcement related organization members. He presented an overview on new legislative issues.

Gorden Graham is a 33 year veteran of California Law Enforcement. His programs are aimed at work organizations that want to improve existing operations, such as ethical decisions, background investigations, and civil liability for public operations.
