A Chicago trucker was arrested after his rig took out one of the railroad crossing gates at 4th and National in Effingham over the weekend.

Effingham city police report 55-year-old Behdad Hosseinkhorrami's semi struck the CSX Railroad gate mechanism, dragging various parts of it south on 4th Street until some of the parts snagged a Mediacom cable wire and tree near the intersection of 4th and Southeastern.

The CSX gate mechanism and cantilever were damaged, along with the Mediacom cable and an Ameren power pole and guide wire.

Hosseinkhorrami was cited for leaving the scene of the incident as well as improper lane usage.

The incident happened just after midnight Saturday morning.
