Cumberland school board members heard at this month's meeting plans for end of year activities.

High school graduation is set for May 22, with baccalaureate at 2pm and commencement exercises to follow at 3pm.

Preschool screening for Cumberland district students will take place March 10-11 at Toledo Christian Church. Children entering Kindergarten next year will be screened and registered for school in May. Those students will not need to attend the preschool screening.

Superintendent Todd Butler asked for opinions and comments about his proposed project to relocate the district's primary and secondary high voltage lines underground. One board member voiced opposition to the plan, but others indicated support to at least move to the planning stages of the work. The Board also reviewed HVAC maintenance agreements as well as the installation of proximity card security locking systems for both school buildings and indicated support for seeking proposals for the maintenance agreement and for the installation of the additional security devices. Butler will seek grant funding for the security card work.

The Board approved next year's school calendar, approved a retirement agreement with teacher Debbie Musielak with a sick leave bonus in exchange for an irrevocable letter of retirement, and learned that the spring musical production of "Bye, Bye Birdie" is set for March 18-20 at Toledo Christian Church.
