Two Injured in Crash at St. Anthony and Mulberry; No Injuries When Vehicle Strikes House

Two people were injured in a crash just after 9am Tuesday at St. Anthony and Mulberry in Effingham.

City police report a vehicle driven by 53-year-old Jay Nelson of Jewett struck a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Wilma Murry of Brownstown. Murry and Murry's passenger, 27-year-old Casara Holland of Stewardson, were injured and were taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Nelson was ticketed for failure to yield.

No injuries resulted when a vehicle struck a house Tuesday night at Grove and Mulberry.

City police say 17-year-old Austin Spillman of Effingham was traveling in the intersection when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway. The vehicle ran off the roadway and struck and damaged the deck and residence at 611 South Mulberry.

No citations were issued.
