All-State Weekend in Illinois

Students from throughout Illinois are headed to Peoria today for the annual All-State Band and Chorus Festival.

The event involves rehearsal and instruction culminating in a performance at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday night.

Four students from Effingham High School will perform in the All-State Chorus. They are Brynn Flack, Shauna Sloan, Courtney Williamson and Antonio Munoz. Three EHS band members will participate in the All-State Band; Andrew Bingham, Melody Whalin and McKenzie Waymoth.

St. Anthony High School will have one participant; Abby Buenker will perform in the All-State Band.

Teutopolis High School will also have one participant; Audra Breer will be a part of the All-State Band.

Dieterich High School will have a participant; Faith Boerngen is a member of the All-State Chorus.

St. Anthony High School Director of Bands Christy Cyrus said being selected for All-State is a huge honor. "It takes hard work and dedication to be chosen."

Students participated in auditions in May and were selected for District competition. All-State selections were announced in December.
