An Effingham teenager was injured in a crash in Watson Township Friday evening.

16-year-old Mackenzie Ledbetter was traveling on 1200th Street, a half-mile south of 900th Avenue at 5:38pm when the crash occurred.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports the car driven by Ledbetter was southbound when Ledbetter reached down to adjust the radio and ran off the roadway to the left. She overcorrected and swerved back right. The car ran off and struck a ditch at the entrance to a private drive. The impact caused the car to flip end over end several times before coming to rest in a deep ditch.

Ledbetter was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. She was cited for not wearing a seat belt and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
