Miss Vermilion County is Illinois County Fair Queen

Miss Vermilion County Abby Foster has been crowned 2016 Illinois County Fair Queen.

The new queen was crowned Sunday evening in Springfield. The queen competition is held as part of the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Convention.

Effingham County Fair Board President Phil Hartke said Miss Effingham County Kristina Neu did not advance to the Final 15, but did compete well during the weekend pageant. 70 girls from across the state took part in the pageant.

The Effingham County Fair Talent Search winners, Raegan Keck in the Senior Division and Madison Fear in the Junior Division, both competed well, but did not place in the state competition on Saturday.

Hartke said all 15 Fair Board members attended the convention, drawing compliments from state association officials.
