Illinois State Police Investigate Officer Involved in Shooting Incident in Hurst

Illinois State Police officials are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred at approximately 3:15pm Thursday in Hurst, Illinois.

The preliminary investigation indicates State Police agents were searching for a suspect wanted on a felony warrant for the robbery of the Family Drug pharmacy in Carterville when they located the suspect in a residence. The suspect displayed a handgun and the agents discharged their firearms striking the suspect. The suspect was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

ISP Crime Scene and ISP Division of Internal Investigations are conducting the investigation.
