Becker Entertains Chamber First Friday Crowd

He is the voice of Keeneland Racetrack in Kentucky, he's a member of the Motor Racing Network broadcast team, and he's a host for world-famous Barrett-Jackson car auctions.

He's also an Altamont native who still lives in Altamont and considers his work at the Effingham County Fair as important as any nationwide broadcast of which he's a part.

Kurt Becker was the guest speaker at the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce First Friday Luncheon for January.

Becker shared about his beginnings, learning from his father, Carl, about the process of calling a horse race. He branched out into auto racing broadcasts including his work for MRN that has lasted some 20 years. The Barrett-Jackson car auction work has taken him throughout the country.

Becker's slideshow included a photo of Elvis. Today is Elvis' birthday and Becker said a friend indicated that if the presentation was going badly, a well-timed photo of the King on his birthday couldn't hurt.

Becker was quick throughout the presentation to credit those who have assisted him along the way
