Olney Man Pleads Guilty to Social Security Fraud

An Olney man pled guilty to a federal count of theft of government funds.

49-year-old David Mitchell Carter pled guilty that from January 2008 to January 2014, he stole and converted money from Social Security. Carter acknowledged concealing his employment status in order to receive benefits from Social Security Administration's Title II disability insurance benefits program.

Carter faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is set for May 3.
