A car struck a bicycle in Cumberland County on Christmas Day evening.

The crash occurred at 5:42pm on US 40, a quarter-mile west of Illinois 130 in Greenup. State police say the bicycle ridden by 25-year-old Minaho Deng of Wichita, Kansas, and the car driven by 32-year-old Darren Everett Duvall of Greenup were eastbound. Police say Deng was wearing dark clothing with no reflective attire on his person or on the bicycle, with a small light on the rear of the bicycle. Duvall said he did not see the bicycle until it was too late and struck the bicycle in the rear.

Deng was injured in the collision, and was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment of what authorities termed non-life threatening injuries.

No citations were issued.
