Severe weather hit early for our area Wednesday, causing widespread power outages to southern parts of the area.

The National Weather Service had forecast severe weather, mainly with a 2-8 pm time frame, but storms fired off significantly earlier than expected. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued Wednesday morning for much of the area, with high winds and heavy rainfall.

Jennifer, one of our Facebook followers sent us this photo from north of Altamont, where winds had pushed a pair of lean-to's from the Seales family's horse farm more than a hundred feet, coming to rest against a fence.

High winds were also responsible for multiple power outages in the southern part of our region, with electricity south of Flora being off for much of the afternoon for many customers.

The Tornado Watch that had been in effect has been canceled, but a chance of showers and thunderstorms remains through 9pm Wednesday evening. There's also the threat of heavier rainfall this weekend, with some weather models predicting several inches of rain possible. Current forecast details are in our weather section, located here.
