Teenager Injured in Crash Friday Night

A local teenager was injured in a crash on Friday night.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports the crash happened at 9:06pm on Funkhouser Road, a short distance north of 800th Avenue. Deputies say 17-year-old Bethany Gregory of Effingham lost control of her vehicle on a curve at the top of a hill. The vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a ditch, overturned and landed on its top in the roadway.

Gregory was injured, but declined to be taken for treatment. She was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
