Nash Naam, MD, has been named HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital’s Physicians’ Values Award recipient. This is the sixth year for the award, given to the physician who most represents the hospital’s four core values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy. Dr. Naam was selected for the award by a committee of previous Physicians’ Values Award winners. He was presented his award at a recent Joint Meeting of the hospital’s Board of Directors and Medical Staff.

Dr. Naam was selected for exemplifying the hospital’s four Core Values every day. Just a portion of one of the nomination letters read, “In sports, commentators often refer to a player as the ‘face of the franchise.’ I cannot think of a physician who better represents the face of the St. Anthony franchise than Dr. Naam…. In fact, if you are fortunate enough to watch him interact with a patient, you will see all of the core values in action. As Dr. Naam approaches the patient, he introduces himself with sincerity, kind eyes and a warm handshake… By not placing himself above the patient, he engages the patient as equally important in the interaction – an extremely powerful demonstration of respect. He asks thoughtful questions in a mild, inquisitive tone. He then truly listens to the answers without interrupting. The patient can easily sense the care and concern in his mannerisms, and is further drawn into the relationship. He draws on his vast knowledge and experience to formulate a treatment plan, and then invites the patient to join him on the therapeutic journey. All the while, his obvious enjoyment in what he does is plain to see. All of our core values, conveniently wrapped up in one interaction – that is what you get when you see Dr. Naam take care of a patient."

Also nominated for this year’s Physician Values Award were Drs. Omer Aker, Eugene Dust, Kelly Haller, and Arvind Patel.
