Mason Man Killed in Crash Saturday Afternoon

A crash in Edgewood claimed the life of a Mason man Saturday afternoon.

Police say a vehicle driven by 63-year old James Kuhns was southbound on Route 37 through Edgewood at about 2:12pm when he attempted to turn into a private drive near Illinois Street, and was struck by an oncoming vehicle driven by Nicole Evans, 34 of Sigel.

Kuhns died from injuries sustained in the crash. Evans, and passenger in Kuhns vehicle, 49-year old Anthony White of Salem, were both uninjured.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department, Illinois State Police and the Effingham County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash.
