Sunday, November 22 is the deadline to get your request for an invitation to shop at the FISH/Catholic Charities Christmas Store postmarked.

Effingham County families who have restricted incomes with which to purchase Christmas toys for their children may apply for an invitation to shop without charge at the store.

Senior citizens, disabled individuals and families who would like to receive a special food package may also complete an application.

The 2015 Christmas Store will be set up in the Agracel Building at 2201 N. Willenborg Street in Effingham beginning on December 14.

Shopping and food applications are available at the FISH Service Center at 708 S. Linden, CEFS Outreach at 202 N. Banker, Effingham Public Library at 200 N. 3rd Street, Heartland Human Services at 1200 N. 4th Street, Catholic Charities at 1502 E. Fayette, the Effingham County Senior Center at 209 S. Merchant, and Effingham County Health Department at 901 W. Virginia.

Applications will not be processed if the required information is not completed: a phone number, a physical street address and mailing address, ages of children in the home, financial information, and meat preference.

All senior citizens and disabled individuals food packages will be delivered.

Once again, all appliations MUST be postmarked no later than November 22, 2015.

Potential clients may not use any other agency, business or group for the same type of help.

Invitations to shop will be mailed after November 24, giving the day and hour that parents may go to select a new toy and several good used toys for each eligible child ages 3 thru 12. Appointments will be scheduled so parents may take their time selecting just the right toys for their children. No children are allowed and may not accompany parents to their shopping appointment. Provision must be made for the care of children while their parents shop.

Senior citizens and disabled individuals who applied for a special food package will receive a card in the mail explaining the date of delivery of their food bags.
