Effingham Knights of Columbus Council members have been out and around the streets of the city the past couple of days collecting donations for Helping Citizens with Intellectual Disabilities Days.
The days are held to assist Council 665 of the Knights in their efforts to raise funds for the benefit of local programs such as EASTER, ARC Community Support Systems, SEARCH, Inclusion Awareness, Special Olympics along with Special Education programs at Sacred Heart and St. Anthony parochial schools.
Effingham Mayor Merv Gillenwater officially proclaimed Friday and today as the helping days. The mayor's proclamation encourages all citizens to do what they can to assist those who are affected by intellectual disabilities.
