The Altamont Community High School Band is headed to the State Volleyball Tournament Friday to perform Pep Band chores.

The Altamont band plays for Session 1, which starts at 8:30am and lasts through 1:30pm. It also means they'll be playing while another area school, Clay City, is playing their first round action at the tournament. The band will perform through 1:30pm.

The band was selected as State Pep Band through an audition process. In December, the band sent in a recording of some of their songs and a recording of a performance at a regular season basketball game.

The band will be performing "Counting Stars", "50 Ways to Say Goodbye", "Freebird", "Dynamite", "Apache", "Paint it Black", "Crazy Train" and other songs. There will also be cadences by the Altamont Drum Line.

There are 42 band members who will be headed to Bloomington's Redbird Arena this Friday for the performance.
