Crop Report for Week Ending November 1

Row crop harvest and winter wheat planting are nearly complete across the state.

Most of the state received over an inch of rain last week, improving pasture conditions and soil moisture supplies. Statewide, precipitation averaged 1.4 inches, 0.65 inches above normal. The average temperature was 49.1 degrees, 2.6 degrees below normal.

There were 4.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending November 1. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 6% very short, 32% short, 57% adequate, and 5% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 8% very short, 35% short, 53% adequate, and 4% surplus.

Corn harvest was 96% complete, 22% ahead of last year at this time. Soybean harvest was 96% complete, compared to the five-year average of 91%. Sorghum harvest was 91% complete, compared to 72% complete last year and the five-year average of 82%.

Winter wheat planted reached 89%, compared to the five-year average of 87%. Winter wheat emerged reached 69%, 36% ahead of last year at this time. Winter wheat condition was rated 1% very poor, 9% poor, 32% fair, 50% good, and 8% excellent.

Pasture and range condition was rated 9% very poor, 15% poor, 40% fair, 34% good, and 2% excellent.
