Effingham Water Authority trustees have reversed an earlier decision, at least temporarily, and lifted a ban on Sunday burning at Lake Sara.

Trustees had imposed the Sunday burn ban and decided to acquire a leaf vac to help handle with cleanup. A group of residents attended this week's meeting, though, and asked for a 60-day lifting of the ban in the fall and 30 days in the spring to accommodate cleanup.

After considerable discussion, the Board voted to lift the ban on Sunday burning for 30 days, and to revisit the issue at the November meeting. The hours to burn will remain between 8am and 5pm.

Also this week, trustees received a report on the cleanup of Lot 11 Twin Oaks. Brown reported that the heavy equipment has been moved to the other side of the lot temporarily, and the old pickup truck belonging to the owner's daughter will be removed shortly. He said there is still an ongoing property line dispute with the adjoining owner. Trustees also passed the fiscal year tax levy, heard from Brad Hastings about a fishing committee to be chaired by Jeff Niebrugge, and heard from Brian Larson on improvements being made at The Marina at The Lake with a further update expected at the November meeting.
