We reported earlier that the Cowden-Herrick Board of Education approved the Bobcats as the new school mascot as of the 2016-17 school year. At this week's meeting, the Beecher City school board agreed with the name change.

Beecher City Superintendent Scott Cameron said the co-op sports teams will be known as the CHBC Bobcats. The districts have co-op'd in some sports in the past and are during the current school year, but all sports will co-op as of next school year.

Also, the Beecher City board heard that the district received a clean audit for the past fiscal year, a 3.65 out of 4, which places the district in the "recognition" category, the highest possible.

The Board renewed insurance coverage through Mihlbachler Insurance at a minimal increase in premium cost, hired Holly Richards as a pre K aide and an afternoon instructor at the high school, and accepted district staff member Lisa Hoekstra's retirement as of December 2019.
