Mattoon Police Investigating Shots Fired Over Weekend

Mattoon police are investigating a report of shots being fired during an incident Saturday night.

Reports indicate that a man exited a car and fired numerous rounds into an occupied vehicle that was following him. The incident occurred in the 800 block of Dakota Avenue just before 9pm. The suspect was armed with a handgun. Despite numerous bullets hitting the vehicle, the victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'7" to 6'0", stocky build, in his 20s or 30s. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark colored car and may have been occupied by two or more black male suspects.
