Teutopolis native and entrepreneur Frank Brummer will share lessons learned from his business experiences, community service and adventure travels as the guest speaker at the next Community Celebration of Excellence Breakfast.

The Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, October 28 at the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Hall. Doors will open at 7am, with the event running from 7:30-9:30am. Tickets are $15 per attendee, with $5 of each ticket price going to the Teutopolis High School Scholarship Fund. Tickets are available at the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce office at 903 Keller Drive in Effingham.

When he was 21 years old, Brummer borrowed $12,000 from his father and left the family farm to start his own business. Brummer and his "great team" built Farmweld into a multi-million dollar international company. After 27 years of innovation and growth, he sold the business to devote time to community service.

Brummer is the leader of TREC (Trail Recreation Effingham County) and currently president of the League of Illinois Bicyclists. Under his guidance, TREC is building an extensive network of bike/hike trails in Effingham County, in the process raising millions of dollars and developing effective partnerships with local goverment agencies. An avid adventurer, Brummer has traveled extensively throughout the United States and through 48 countries on six continents, many of them on a bicycle.

Brummer is a 1976 graduate of Teutopolis High School and a 1977 graduate of Lake Land College. He was inducted into the Lake Land College Distinguished Alumni Society in 2007 and received the Lake Land College Alumnus Achievement Award in 2013. Frank and wife Cathy have four children and five grandchildren.

The breakfast will include an Effingham County Vision 2020 10-Year Celebration, "Building Dreams for the Future".

Mailed requests for tickets are due by Thursday, October 15 to Effingham County Vision 2020, PO Box 643, Effingham, IL 62401. For more information, contact Effingham County Chamber of Commerce at 217-342-4147, or email: chamber@effinghamcountychamber.com
