Altamont resident Steven Larson remains in Federal custody in Missouri, so did not make a scheduled court appearance Tuesday in Effingham County.

Larson is charged with a series of counts locally involving the alleged kidnapping of a 13-year-old local girl early this year. He also faces counts of rape and other sexual offenses.

Larson also faces charges in Missouri, where he was found with the girl the day after her disappearance. In July, he was charged by Federal authorities since the offenses involve multiple jurisdictions. While the Federal case proceeds, Larson will remain in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where Larson and the girl were found.

An attorney with the US District Attorney's office for Eastern Missouri Wednesday indicated Larson will be making his next court appearance there on October 6.

Larson's case is next due back in Effingham County for a status hearing on January 6.
