Southern Illinois Women's Economic Summit Set for Wednesday

An economic summit with state and national implications is scheduled for Wednesday in Effingham.

The Southern Illinois Women's Economic Summit will take place at the Keller Convention Center. The event is presented by the US Women's Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce.

Activities will begin at 8am with registration, a market place Expo and breakfast. Margot Dorfman, the President and CEO of the US Women's Chamber of Commerce will give the welcome and introductions at 9am, to be followed at 9:30am by a State of the State of Illinois Address and a report on Women's Economic Priorities from Sally Rutledge-Ott. 

A roundtable discussion on attendees's business priorities is planned at 10am, followed at 10:30am by a panel discussion featuring Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunities Director Jim Schultz as well as area and regional economic development and trade specialists. 

After lunch and more time in the Expo, time will be shared at 1pm on success stories and a discussion about building success, followed at 1:30pm by a presentation on women's certification, and then more networking at 2pm in the Expo.
