Ahead of Friday's Manufacturing Day, John Boos, one of Effingham's oldest industries, is highlighting their process with the unveiling of an enormous table that's set to be the centerpiece of acclaimed chef and Food Network Star Tyler Florence's new restaurant in California.

John Boos President Joe Emmerich showed off the project Monday morning, one that took more than 30 man hours to complete.

The table is constructed of walnut (which Emmerich was quick to point out was sourced entirely from the midwest), cut into strips about 1-1/2 inches wide and ten inches tall. More than 2,500 strips of wood were used. Emmerich said each of the strips is glued together and it's first built as a square, then rounded off.

Emmerich said the table is set to be delivered to Florence in November. It's presently on display at the John Boos Factory Outlet and Showroom, located at 507 East Fayette Avenue in Effingham.
