A Teutopolis woman was injured when a semi rear-ended her SUV.

The crash happened just after 4pm Monday on Illinois Route 33 at 1650th Street, about a mile east of Effingham. Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports the SUV driven by 41-year-old Tammy Kreke of Teutopolis was slowing to turn right off the highway when it was struck from behind by the semi driven by 43-year-old Kenneth Junior of Matteson.

The impact forced Kreke's SUV through the intersection and onto the Canadian National Railroad tracks running along the highway in that area.

Kreke was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Junior was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
