We got a call Tuesday from an area listener who said she got a phone call Monday night that has her worried and wanting to make sure our other listeners don't get ripped off.
The listener, who wished to remain anonymous, said she was called shortly before 9pm by a caller who had asked for her son by name. When our listener told the caller that her son no longer lives at home, the caller then started asking whether our listener would "like to be involved" and "would you like to make a contribution?" Our listener naturally asked, "involved in what?" and "a contribution to what?" The caller asked the same questions twice more and our listener asked her same two questions.
Our listener never got the answers to her questions and so the conversation ended with the caller pledging to take her number off their call list. The problem our listener had with that is that she has an unlisted number.
Anyway, our listener has contacted several state and Federal agencies and alerted them to what is a suspicious situation and now she has asked to let you know in case you get such a call to be on your guard.
