Teutopolis village board members took steps Wednesday to correct the village's 2014 tax levy.

The village levied for $167,000 toward the cost of a water transmission line from Newton, but the amount was supposed to be abated. It wasn't, meaning the village ended up with more money than it should've.

The Board Wednesday corrected the matter by reducing the levy for 2015 and also abating the levy by $167,000 to get things back in balance for next year.

Board members contracted with Luttrell Backhoe for $49,015 for a box culvert project on Oak Street; released $5,000 in retainage fees to Tri-S Excavating for the Commercial Drive project; and released remaining funds to A.J. Walker Construction for work on Commercial Drive.

The Board voted to indemnify and hold harmless Overbeck Limited Partnership for a sewer line along the creek and the partnership's property on the north side of the village connected to the waste water treatment plant; and set Trick or Treat Night in Teutopolis this year for Friday, October 30 from 6:30-8pm.
