No decision Monday on a sentence for Effingham doctor Naeem Kohli.

The hearing was delayed after the defense filed an objection to Kohli's medical office being targeted for forfeiture as part of his sentence. Kohli was found guilty in January of writing prescriptions out of Kohli Neurology and Sleep Center in Effingham outside the usual course of medical practice and, prosecutors say, not for a legitimate medical purpose.

The trial judge heard arguments on other pending motions Monday and ruled on those matters. That leaves a decision on Kohli's sentence, including whether the medical building should be part of the forfeiture. The judge indicated the sentencing hearing would be re-scheduled "in the next couple of weeks," once he reviews evidence in the case.

The 60-year-old Kohli was found guilty of seven counts of illegal dispensation of a Schedule II controlled substance. He faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.
