Effingham County Sheriff's Department investigated several crashes over the weekend.

The first crash occurred at 9:28pm Friday on 1100th Street, a half-mile south of 400th Avenue in Mason Township. A vehicle driven by 21-year-old Robert Bone of Effingham swerved to avoid striking a deer. The vehicle ran off the roadway and then came back on, then ran off the opposite of the roadway and rolled onto its top.

Bone was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. No citations were issued.

Two crashes occurred on Saturday, the first one at 12:39pm at the intersection of US Route 45 and 870th Avenue in Watson Township.

Vehicles driven by 63-year-old Ronald Rude of Effingham and 78-year-old Linda Gillespie of Effingham were stopped on Route 45, while Gillespie was waiting to turn. A third vehicle driven by 22-year-old Madison Skidis of Effingham didn't stop in time and rear-ended the Rude vehicle, which ended up traveling to the right, and then rear-ended the Gillespie vehicle. The impact caused Gillespie's vehicle to also strike the Rude vehicle.

Skidis was injured in the crash, as was Rude's passenger, 58-year-old Linda Griffy of Louisville. Griffy declined treatment, but Skidis was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Skidis was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

Arnold and his passenger, 26-year-old Jed Arnold of Effingham, were both injured, but both declined to be taken for treatment.

Chad Arnold was cited for leaving the scene of the crash, and operating an uninsured vehicle.
