Effingham Park Board members Wednesday heard that work continues to progress on the Workman Sports Complex.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff said water and sewer line work outside the building is moving ahead, interior walls are going up, and work to dig the swimming pools is underway after finally securing permits for the project from the State. Althoff said they hope to begin pouring the floor of one pool on Friday. He said the hope is to still to have the complex open in January with the pools to open a few weeks later.

Althoff reported that participation numbers for fall soccer and flag football leagues is in line with the past four years, with over 300 kids playing soccer.

The Park Board tabled any personnel action, which Althoff said involves a new contract for him, but renewed health insurance with Blue Cross-Blue Shield through Tingley Insurance at a 9% premium increase for the next year.
