A group of local residents with signs warning about the dangers of heroin were along Keller Drive Monday. Members told us they're 'protesting heroin', and want to open the eyes of those who might think the drug isn't in our area.

Effingham resident Amber McCord (above, seated) said she recently had two friends die.

When asked what the group's message was, McCord said, "for people to know, don't be scared to know the signs of heroin, that it's in our town and it's killing our families, our friends, our sisters, our brothers, our children."
