A local man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

33-year-old Mickey Johnson admitted to a sex act involving a girl younger than 13 years old in September 2011. The charge is a Class X felony, meaning Johnson could have been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison. The minimum sentence for the offense is six years in prison.

Johnson's trial was scheduled to begin on Monday.

The offense is not day-for-day good time eligible, meaning Johnson will have to serve at least 85% of his sentence. He will also spend from three years to natural life on mandatory supervised release, and must register as a sex offender.

It was also stipulated during Johnson's sentencing that Macon County will not prosecute him on any offenses there might have allegedly involved the same girl, since he pled guilty to the Effingham County offense.
