The pinch-hitter for the weekly guest speaker at the August 26 meeting of the Effingham Noon Rotary Club knocked it out of the park.

When neither the speaker nor the program chairman was available, Rotarians went to a tried-and-true method of hearing from new club members about themselves and their occupation. That led to a improptu program by new Noon Rotary member John Maguire, a member of National Guard Bravo Company and an investigator for the Effingham City Police Department.

Maguire was asked questions by fellow club members, and that led to good dialogue over cybercrimes and criminal fraud.

Also speaking was Libby Moeller, who returned to the Noon Club after several years as a Sunrise Rotary member. Moeller serves as executive director of CASA of Effingham County.

Maguire and Moeller are pictured with Collin Hecht, a senior at Effingham High School and the son of Robert and Janet Hecht. Collin was the first weekly student guest of the school year. Noon Rotary tries to have a senior student from either St. Anthony or Effingham High School as a guest throughout the school year.
