An Oklahoma man was critically injured in a crash northwest of Effingham early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred at 1:10am on Illinois Routes 32-33, a quarter mile west of Nazarene Road. Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 27-year-old Tim Perry Wagner III of Dewey, Oklahoma, was traveling west when his SUV crossed the eastbound lanes, went into a ditch, hit a culvert and then overturned. The impact ejected Wagner from the vehicle.

Wagner was injured and was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana, where he is listed in critical condition.

Deputies cited Wagner for improper lane usage, not wearing a seat belt, and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
