A 67-year-old rural Mulberry Grove man died Tuesday when he fell from a scaffold he was working from.

The man, identified as James Hickman, was working on a house approximately 28 feet above a concrete patio when he lost his balance and fell. The incident occurred at 4:27pm.

Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen pronounced Hickman dead at the scene. Bowen's office is investigating the incident. An autopsy was scheduled Wednesday at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham to help determine the exact cause of death.
