An Effingham man will go on trial in October after he was found fit to stand trial.

31-year-old Justin Shadwell is charged with residential arson. He was arrested the day after a fire that damaged a house at 608 South 5th Street in February. Shadwell was later judged unfit to stand trial, but the Illinois Department of Human Services has now indicated that Shadwell has regained fitness and can go on trial.

Shadwell will now go on trial on October 5. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for September 23. He remains in custody awaiting trial.
