Lake Land Offers Community Courses in August

The Lake Land College Office of Community and Professional Programs will offer several community courses throughout the month of August. Find a new hobby, brush up on a skill and have some fun with Lake Land College!

The course details and information are as follows:

  • Hunter Safety - Learn basic firearm handling and safety. This IDNR-sponsored class meets the education requirement for obtaining a hunting license. There is no cost to attend.  Class meets from 6-9p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27-28and 8 a.m. - 4p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29.   • Cemetery Care & Repair - Learn how to preserve a cemetery including approved cleaning methods, and basic and advanced repairs. Find buried markers and learn about resources, laws and support groups. This is a classroom lecture and hands-on cemetery activity. John Heider, a professional conservator, will explain cemetery care and demonstrate gravestone repair. Please dress for activity. Enrollment is limited. Bring a sack lunch.  This class will be heldAug. 29 and the cost is $45.  To register visit, www.lakelandcollege.edu/learn and click on the “Personal Enrichment” tab.
  • Taekwon-do & Martial Arts – Increase your self-control, gain self-confidence and develop respect for yourself and others.  Improve flexibility, increase muscle strength and improve conditioning.  Classes are held in Mattoon and Effingham.  For locations, dates, times or to register visit, www.lakelandcollege.edu/learn and click on the “Engaging Generations” tab.

To register by phone for courses which begin with CE, call Admissions and Records at 217-234-5434. You will be sent a statement for payment. The drop date for a refund is five business days prior to the start of the class do not include Fridays in the summer.
