Dieterich village board members are considering the development of a video promoting the village.

Deb Bohannon of Bohannon Marketing spoke with board members at this month's meeting about the video, which could promote economic development opportunities, housing in the village, and parks and recreation offerings. The Board plans to discuss the issue more at their September meeting.

The Board discussed a lack of drainage in Hartke Subdivision, which is causing damage to Prairie Drive. Village officials say part of the problem is that residents have tiled their property, leaving the storm water to pond into the street, which acts like a ditch. The Village has obtained a quote on the cost of a storm sewer on the street, but the $16,000 has led Village officials to consider contacting the residents to see if they want to share the cost.

There was discussion about a ditch cleanout project south of Waldhoff Avenue, since the ditch currently doesn't drain. The Board also agreed to pay $900 for the cost of an archaelogical study of the village ditch. There is some discussion about eliminating the "horseshoe bend" in the middle of town, but the change would disrupt the path the creek has taken throughout the life of the village, hence the need for the archaelogical study in case there are historic items in the creekbed.

The Village Board renewed its electric co-op agreement, approved two temporary liquor licenses for a Dieterich Sportsbackers event on September 11 and a Cruise-In event on September 12, and discussed whether to institute a water leak finder program where village residents would get a reward for reporting leaks.
