About a dozen people gathered along Keller Drive in Effingham Friday afternoon for a protest against proposed state budget cuts.

Those gathered said the protest was on behalf of some of the state's most vulnerable who could see less access to care if the cuts are enacted. The effort was organized by the Service Employees International Union. Motorists were asked to honk if they supported the protest effort.
