An Effingham resident was placed on two years probation after pleading guilty to burglary.

21-year-old Rachael Stephens and a co-defendant were arrested on charges of breaking into a vehicle at a local establishment and breaking into a vehicle parked at a motel earlier this year. A handgun was taken from one of the vehicles. Video surveillance in place at one of the locations led to the arrests.

In addition to the probation, Stephens was sentenced to 180 days in jail with credit for 80 days served and day-for-day good time. She was ordered to make restitution and pay costs.

Stephens' co-defendant, 21-year-old Anthony Henkelman was sentenced to six years in prison for his role in the incidents.
