Jasper school board members have decided to meet before the end of the month to discuss some personnel vacancies, including their superintendent's job.

Dan Cox is leaving the Jasper district to become superintendent of the Staunton school district as of August 1. Cox was hired by the Staunton board in June. Cox thanked everyone at the end of this month's regular meeting for the opportunity to have been the superintendent in his home town the past five years.

Meanwhile, the district still needs to hire two elementary teachers, two bus drivers, a high school Social Studies teacher, and a high school/junior guidance counselor.

At this month's meeting, the Jasper board approved the recall of one person as a cook and another person as a custodian. The Board also approved a resolution issuing a notice of remedial warning to teacher Julie Chapman.

Also, the Board accepted resignations from Becky Oldham as an educational support aide, Ryan Ervin as a high school Social Studies teacher, and Tama Powers as high school guidance counselor. Cheryl Walker was approved as a co-sponsor for high school Student Council, and approved Amber Shedelbower and Maddie Stanley as volunteers for junior high softball.
