Dieterich Officials Discussing TIF District Application

Dieterich officials are discussing whether to apply for Tax Increment Financing District status.

A Tax Increment Financing, or TIF, district allows for tax revenue generated within a district to be collected and used for projects in the district.

The Dieterich school board engaged in a discussion at this week's meeting with representatives from the Village of Dieterich and Dieterich Community Development Corporation regarding the application for a TIF District. A vote is expected at a future meeting.

Also this week, Dieterich Superintendent Cary Jackson discussed an invitation to a "Kickoff to Education" event hosted by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce at the Thelma Keller Convention Center on August 5 from 7:30-9am. The event is designed as a celebration of all that is great in area schools. Guests will hear news from K-12 educators, Lake Land College President Dr. Josh Bullock and Eastern Illinois University President Dr. David Glassman. The event will be emceed by local educator and Illinois State Board of Education member Craig Lindvahl.

Also this week, the Dieterich board hired Kathy Clausius as school psychologist for the coming school year; aporoved a Family Medical Leave for Mindy Worman effective when her child is born; replaced a copy machine in the elementary school for $2,295; contracted with Mose, Yockey, Brown and Kull for auditing services; and entered into a vision and hearing screening services agreement with HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital at no cost to the district.
