Fire did major damage to a mobile home on the north side of St. Elmo Tuesday.

St. Elmo Fire Chief Doug Engeljohn said firefighters were called to the scene at Timberline Lake between 10:30am and 11am. The home is located near the St. Elmo Golf Club. The chief said the homeowner and his wife asked for their names to not be released. One room was totally burned, and there was heavy smoke and heat damage throughout the home. No one was injured.

Engeljohn said the fire was caused by problems in some electronics equipment. Brownstown and Altamont firefighters were called to assist St. Elmo firefighters at the scene, and the American Red Cross, St. Elmo Police Department and Altamont Ambulance Service all assisted.

Firefighters cleared the scene about 1pm.
